Each week when the COT data is released at 3:30 eastern by the CFTC, I try to update all the tables of data in this website within about 20 minutes so subscribers can print out things they might want to take home for the weekend. Charts and data files, linked on the "charts and data" button above, are updated in the evening on the day of the report.

Each week I send two emails, usually by 4 pm (within 30 minutes of the release).  I send subscribers a brief stock index timing update comment and the table of the "12 week summary of net commercial positions" with the one year, three year, and five year range of the data. (The Net Commercial summary is also on the web, linked above in the navigation bar by the red button with the blue dot center.) I also send my free email list (subscribers should also be on the free list) a summary of the current COT report, a summary of the current Supplemental Report, and my weekly commentary. Beginning this week, I am now posting 12 week summaries of the Supplemental Report on this web (new yellow dot button added to the navigation bar) and I will add to the subscriber email the 12 week summary of supplemental data of net commercial positions for the 12 Ag markets in the Supplemental Report. 

It is my hope that subscribers are able to use these 12 week summaries of net commercial positions to filter down to the markets they may want to study over the weekend. In the summaries I highlight the markets that have net commercial positions near their one, three, or five year extremes of the net commercial positions. I feel these are the markets the net commercial positions suggest are either over priced or under priced and traders should monitor these markets for a possible change in trend.

The 12 week summaries of the reported large non commercial traders, both regular and supplemental report data, are not included in the email to subscribers but are posted on the web. On those summaries, I highlight when the data is near the extremes of the range for the last one, three, or five years. Subscribers should view these highlighted markets as markets with solid trends and growing trend following trader positions.

Often the markets highlighted with large non commercial trader positions suggesting the strongest trends are also the markets highlight on the net commercial summaries as most over or under priced. This is just the reality of commodity markets. They accelerate in strong trends to overpriced and more overpriced. Gaining an undertanding of where the markets are in their trends is the goal of this web site,
